Rooftops are often overlooked, but they can be quite impressive. Rooftop bars, movie screenings, restaurants, and sports venues are all available on rooftops in many cities. We love to make the most of our roofs, with a view. These are some of the most impressive and beautiful rooftop uses around the world:
Das Loft, Vienna
The designer of this contemporary rooftop restaurant has blended it seamlessly with the use of colour and references to the gothic stained glass of Vienna’s St Stephen’s Cathedral. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer diners a breathtaking view of the cathedral and River Danube. This cleverly links water and sky. For a stunning roof, contact Residential Architects like Quattro
This amazing place is a combination of a boat, soaring garden and plane. This rooftop, located in the Marina Bay Sands complex, boasts 250 trees that are 190 metres high. It can accommodate almost 4,000 people at once. Three restaurants, a chic bar and a hotel with a 146m-long infinity pool are all part of the Marina Bay Sands development. The views of the city are breathtaking.
5 Angel Lane, London
London is one the most crowded cities in the world, so it’s surprising to see a garden on a roof that’s as tranquil as this. The tranquil rooftop space at this property features a vegetable plot, a bee colony that makes honey, and cascading waterfalls. This inner-city oasis is London’s largest rooftop garden, covering 2,000 square metres. The garden is a mix of herbaceous perennials as well as evergreens. It also has iroko wood planks that have a Japanese flair, since the Japanese bank Nomura occupies the building.
